Emily Mast, Miss Jackson County Teen USA Pageant 2017 Candidate

Congratulations to Emily Mast on being chosen as one of the top five Miss Jackson County Teen USA Pageant winners!  The pageant took place on Friday, August 4th, 2017 at Western Community Arts Center where Emily placed 3rd runner up, gaining scholarship money towards her college education. She also tied for best interview and community service.  This young lady excels in so many ways it is easy to see why the judges adored her, as do we! At only 15 years old she has already accomplished more than most college bound students!

Scholastic Honors: Completed 39 college credits; Deans List recipient at Jackson College; Jackson College Writing Fellow Nomination and Acceptance; Jackson College Heritage Center Pioneer Group Invitation; Starred in Jackson College Marketing video; Invited to volunteer at the Jackson College Fundraising Gala; Perfect Attendance in all college classes; Maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout Middle School, High School, and College; Jackson Preparatory and Early College President’s List Recipient; Jackson Preparatory and Early College National Honor Society Invitation; Will graduate a year early from high school with an Associate’s of Arts Degree from Jackson College.

Leadership Roles: Jr. and Sr. Writing Fellow at Jackson College where I peer tutor college students, Assistant Girl Scout Leader, Member of Jackson College Heritage Center Pioneer Group; Hosted 2016 Jackson Community Federal Credit Union Kids Day; Big Sister and Role Model to siblings. 

Accomplishments: Writing a piece for publication in an academic journal; Writing a novel based on my grandparents inspiring life story; Writer for JACKS Newspaper; Attended BookCon ©, “nErD Camp” ©, and was a “nErD Camp Jr.” © volunteer; A part of the Jackson College Heritage Center Pioneer Group (a first Heritage Center of its kind in the USA) where I helped write a script for a film, had an important speaking part in the film, and became skilled in: scanning, transcribing, interpreting, and archiving historical documents. 

Interesting Facts: Collected over 150 books in the past year, 37 of which are signed by author; Have met 16 authors, one of which has become my mentor; Vegetarian for eleven years; Trained in aerial silks; Met and trained with famous dancers from “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dance Moms: Miami”; Previous dancer of 10 years changed path due to injury; Love to organize; Dislike opening public doors; Collect vinyl figurines; Deathly afraid of ghosts.

She really made us proud! Great Job Emily!
